JKSA Urges MEA to Consider Postponement of University Exams for Indian Students in Iran

Date: 22 February 2026

In a significant development concerning Indian students studying in Iran, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has formally written to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, requesting urgent intervention regarding the ongoing university examinations.

The representation comes in light of the recent advisory issued by the Indian Embassy in Tehran advising Indian nationals to remain cautious amid the evolving situation. Following this advisory, many students and parents have expressed concerns about the feasibility of attending scheduled examinations.

What Is the Issue?

According to the letter dated 22/02/2026, JKSA has highlighted that several Indian students in Iran are scheduled to appear in important examinations, including:

  • University Semester Examinations
  • Uloom (Comprehensive Basic Science Examination)
  • Pre-Internship Examinations

These examinations are mandatory academic milestones, particularly for medical students, and are reportedly scheduled in early March 2026.

JKSA has requested the MEA to provide clarity and guidance for affected students and to consider engaging with relevant authorities in Iran for possible academic flexibility if required.

Is the Exam Postponed?

Important: As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding postponement of examinations. The letter represents a request made by JKSA. Students are advised to wait for official communication from their respective universities or the Ministry of External Affairs.

Why This Matters

Many Indian students, including those from Jammu & Kashmir, are currently pursuing medical and other professional courses in Iran. Any disruption in examinations may directly impact their academic progression and future plans.

JKSA has assured that it remains available to assist in coordinating verified information between authorities and affected students.
