Big Change by SSC! New Sliding Mechanism for Post Allocation – What is FIX & FLOAT Option?
SSC Introduces Sliding Mechanism for Post Allocation – FIX & FLOAT Option Explained
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially introduced a Sliding Mechanism for qualifying candidates in its recruitment examinations. This new system aims to ensure maximum filling of vacancies and reduce posts remaining vacant due to non-joining or absence during document verification.
Why Has SSC Introduced This Mechanism?
Over the years, SSC observed that a significant number of vacancies remain unfilled because:
- Candidates do not appear for Document Verification (IV).
- Selected candidates do not join the allocated department.
- No waiting list system exists in multi-factor examinations.
To address this issue and improve vacancy utilization, SSC has now introduced a one-time Sliding Mechanism in each examination cycle.
How the Sliding Mechanism Works
- First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA): Allocation will be done based on merit and preference.
- Candidates must visit the Regional Director (RD) Office for Identity Verification (IV).
- During IV, candidates must choose either FIX or FLOAT option.
What is FIX Option?
If a candidate chooses FIX, it means:
- The candidate accepts the allocated post as final.
- No further upgrade will be considered.
- If the candidate does not join, the post will move to the next recruitment cycle.
What is FLOAT Option?
If a candidate selects FLOAT, it means:
- The candidate is willing to be considered for an upgraded post.
- Upgrade depends on availability of vacancies due to absentees or non-joining candidates.
- If upgraded, joining the new post becomes mandatory.
Important Points to Note
- Only one round of sliding will be conducted.
- No waiting list will be maintained.
- Final result after sliding will be binding on all candidates.
- Failure to appear in IV may result in being marked absent.
Impact on Future SSC Aspirants
This policy is expected to:
- Increase vacancy utilization.
- Provide fair opportunity for deserving candidates.
- Reduce delay in recruitment cycles.
- Improve transparency in post allocation.
Who Will Be Affected?
The Sliding Mechanism will apply to major SSC examinations where post allocation is based on merit and preference, including upcoming recruitment cycles.
